Shirley Salter - Garden User, Via E-Mail

'Having access to my garden again has been like being freed from solitary confinement. I had always previously been a gardener and loved having bbq's and other outside social events, as well as just sitting quietly reading or enjoying my surroundings. a garden to me is another 'room' of your house, an extension of the inside. Unfortunately health problems made it impossible to keep up with the gardening and very soon it was extremely overgrown. This was a very depressing, not to mention isolating situation. During all the good weather, I was trapped inside the house unable to enjoy my other 'room'. The makeover has given that back to me, an even better version in the style of a small tropical paradise. again, I thank all who made it happen, I will think of them all every time I sit out there.

Neil Wright - Team Member, Quoted in the Derby Evening Telegraph

'It's hard labour but good fun. We could have gone paint-balling or something but this has brought us all together and it benefits other people'

Mark Naylor - Team Member, Quoted in the Derby Evening Telegraph

'I haven't done anything like this for a long time. It's brought the team closer too. The other thing is that this is something permanent'

The Windrush Court Association, Via E-Mail

On behalf of all the residents in Windrush Court the committee wishes to send an enormous "thank-you" to the "Red Welly" team and also to the great bunch of volunteers from Rolls Royce. Our gratitude also of course to Walbrook Community Development Team. Without their support and encouragement none of this would have happened'.....'It's hard to believe just how much work was done in just one day, despite the rain which eventually became pretty relentless, and certainly proved to be a test of true grit!!

In Windrush Court we are blessed with nine different nationalities and thanks to you all we finally do have our community garden. It will be well used by us all and help to bring us even closer together as a group. It just goes to show that when a small group of local people get together to improve their community, that with the right support they can achieve their goals.
